Day 14: Start of Spring Revival

Ashley and I with Ashley's parents
Went to Centennial Chapel this morning and the revival has begun!! Also, tonight I went to Ashley's church in Lowell. And Warren Haines spoke about his Haiti trip. Also, he gave us insight on how Haitians worship time. And it looked like a crazy but good time just praising the Lord! Also, the Tap-Tap is a crazy style of a taxi. Ashley and I decided that we should probably catch up on our creole. That was today.

Acts 2:42-44 "They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. "

Day 13:Discovery of Thai Tea in Stores

Today, Austin's parents came to visit. We had a nice time shopping and eating at Red Robin. We also bought a few things and there was one thing on the self that I had never seen before in stores. It was THAI TEA!!! It is absolutely an addiction. I can't wait to make some to see if I can do it like the Thai place does it back home. Also we watched SALT on direct tv. I am really sleepy now and ready for tomorrows revival service.

Day 12: I Started the Fire.

Today was pretty uneventful. But I was going down Burke stairs and skipped a couple steps because Audrey tripped and accidentally pushed me. We laughed about it later, but that was a close one. Then I pretty much slid my way into Ludwig on the slippery tiles. Haha. So had our bible study at lunch. We discussed about how we need to prioritize our lives. It was a very nice time we had. Also, I about burnt the apartment down because there way leftover food in the stove and flames were coming out of the bottom of the pan. Luckily Jen was there to stop the fire. Thanks Jen. Hope everyone is having a good week.

Day 11: Watch Out! Where are my keys?!

Laundry room!

Sneaking into the supply room! When Amanda left it open.

So lets see today at a different moment I thought I lost my id card. Then I thought I lost my keys. And then the other portion of my day I thought I lost my camera. Now I have everything in place. Yay! Today I went to the Aurora Office and worked on stuff, then went to Austin's intramural game, also I caught up on laundry and went to the gym of course. So I am getting used to doing the whole running thing, hopefully I will be able to improve my speed. Well, I am brief but I am off to studying.

Day 10: Today was an Ordinary Day

Sorry not a really exciting picture. I just drank this Brisk Lemonade. I didn’t know Brisk made lemonade but I notice it today when I got my lunch. It was really sweet almost too sweet for me. I guess I just notice things like that being a marketing major and all. Not too much happened today. However, on my way back from classes I was just by myself but I was trying to come up with a new song. As in me writing a song. Well, I don’t remember any of the lyrics now but it was something about how being ordinary is great. Just like in chapel today, Ben Zobrist spoke on how it’s not about the fame. And told us about his testimony. He did a really nice job of giving detail on his life and how he made it to where he is now. It was a very inspiring chapel message. This was just one of the reminders to all of us how God works in many ways.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.  Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."

Day 9: Amanda is Cooking

Currently I am here in the kitchen working on homework. And Amanda is making waffles. And she did it! She made them and James is enjoying his dinner. Amanda is now a cook! She is monitoring open apartments so we are just hanging out. Ashley just left to go to small group and Staci is out and about with David. Other than that nothing much that is exciting has happened today.

Matthew 17:20  “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Day 8: Way too Busy

Mondays are the craziest days for me. First, my Mondays are always filled with roommate breakfast. I just got back from an ASC meeting and Christian Scriptures 2 got out early which was really nice.

Staci: "If you wear inappropriate clothing at Olivet it is like wearing a bathing suit to church. You might look good but you like a fool."

Ashley making some muffins.

Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

Day 7: Knit the Day Away

Today was a day for crafts. First Amanda, Ashley, and I made button bracelets and then they started to work on knitting projects. But overall, we went to church and then came back and hung out here in our apartment.

John 14:2 "In my Father's house are many rooms: if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you."

Day 6:MR. ONU

Half Pepperoni and Half Chicken Pizza

Sarah and Amanda

Staci with her pizza. What a treat!
Today, Ashley and I went to the thrift store this morning. We didn't find too much. Just a few more buttons for my button bracelets I am selling to raise money for my Haiti trip. For dinner we made Pizza, and Sarah came to eat with us. She made delicious cake. Thanks Sarah!! So then after Amanda, Ashley, Sarah and I ate at our apartment we went off to Mr. ONU. But before we went to the event we stopped by and gave Staci some pizza and cake while she was at work.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1-4 "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance..."

Day 5: I dislike FERNS!

Sad Day...There was no cold day today. We still had to go to school. Lunch was rather exciting because Grand girls got together and we are starting to have a bible study during Friday lunches. Today, the Zumba group painted our t-shirts for the big performance. Also, I am hanging out with the girls now. We are going to watch Social Network but we are still waiting on Kelly's boyfriend Brandon to get the movie from Family Video. But we all went to PJ's Ice Cream Shop and played Gestures and put puzzles together. Also, the reason I hate ferns is because while I am writing this blog the fern on our window sill just shed a bunch of dead leaves. Well that all right now I am still visiting so I am going to be a good friend and hang out.

Day 4: From An Artistic View

From an artist perspective a envision behind a painting or piece of artwork is always there. Just like in life, God is an artist and envisions our lives in every complete detail.  The subtle accents he uses to create each individual makes us different. Giving us these differences really makes life that much more interesting and makes us as humans want to explore what else is out there. For some, they have never felt God spirit amongst them because they have grown up with so much fear. For others, they have so much desire to help someone they don't even know where to begin. For God, he makes us work in ways that we can't always see.

Today started as a relaxing day. It was a cold day. When the only thing I wanted to do was to hop up in bed I knew I wouldn't get that much accomplished. But as the day went on I had several meetings to attend. One of which was a Aurora Editor meeting. And another which was a meeting for those who are interested in being an RA for next year. So as of right now I am torn between choosing to be an RA next year or being Editor of Aurora or neither. It's all up to God in what doors He is going to leave open and what doors He will close. Working for Admission in the Church Relations department has really taught me how rewarding it is to just get involved in other peoples lives. When making phone calls I don't always get a second chance to make that second call because there is just so many students to get through in a year's time. However, it is such a joy to hear these juniors and seniors in high school be so excited for the upcoming years and especially to know they will be a "college student"soon. When I ask some of them ... "What are you involved in at school or outside of school?" They normally pause and some of them will give me the response saying "nothing". Well, then sometimes I say "Okay, are you involved in your youth group in anyway?" and then they normally have excitement in there voice and give a list of about at least 5 things they do in there youth group alone. I feel such a joy to have an opportunity to talk to these kids. Which brings me to why I think it would be such an amazing experience to be apart of the students lives in the upcoming year. I could be there for there hardship and when they just need a friend to talk to. I am thinking about that but also the Aurora position is another wonderful ministry opportunity because I would be impacting the lives of our campus by capturing moments day by day which is so significant for new beginnings.
And to end the day off right Austin and I went to Matt and Jerry's Art Show. They both did an amazing job. Matt captured great photos and Jerry did his project on using wood to make different pieces of work have new meaning and originality. Now, I am really already starting to think about being in the class to do the art show thing because it would be very beneficial in what ever I do after I graduate college. Thats all for tonight, but now I am praying for no school tomorrow because it is suppose to be -15 below zero. brrrr.
Austin, Matt, and I as we are there supporting Matt at his Art Show.

1 Timothy 4:12 "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."

Day 3: Sometimes smiling goes along way:)

Today after chapel people were handing out gold bands to bring awareness to us stating that we choose life over abortion. I ♥ babies!!

Today was no regular day. There was lots of long hours doing Zumba in the evening from about 7pm to 10pm. First, I had dance practice with Michael Doherty and a group of his friend who are also in the act for  Mr. ONU. Mr. ONU is basically a man's pageant where guys from each grade are judged in each category for there special talent. It is very comical to see and this year I am in it in support of Michael Doherty. I really hope we do a good job on stage. It can be a little nerve racking but I think everyone will do a wonderful job. Also, Ashley informed us that she got her plane ticket for London!! I am so excited for her, I know she will have a amazing time. Staci went to David's intramural basketball game tonight. She said it was a very eventful night because David twisted his ankle and Jon got a bloody nose. She said David was still able to make it to the car just with some minor limping. As for Amanda she went to Zumba and had a great time! Overall, the day was fun it was mostly dedicated to Zumba but still nice to see everyone there and enjoying themselves. Well, tomorrow brings us to a new day. But for those of you reading this blog keep on smiling and be humble because our world could always use more humility.

Philippians 2:5-8 "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-even death on a cross!"

Day 2: The Meaning Of Being An Adult

So I am now an adult yet I still don't feel any different from when I was a teen except for the fact I have more responsibilities. YAY! Today was a day that I had to get back into the swing of things. First, I start my morning off with my first class cancelled. That wasn't so bad. Then Ashley, Amanda, Christina, and I went off to the gym at 9:20 am and exercised. We had a great time, yet, the weather today was not in our favor because there was several black ice spots that basically covered the whole parking lot. So as Christina and I linked arms back to the car so we each made it back to the car with no injury. Praise the Lord! Next on the to do list was to finish up getting my laundry done. So did that and then Ashley and I watched The Big Bang Theory. Today was also my first day back at work. I got to see Kyle, Hannah, and Ryan still calling away at their computer stations. We have started to call ourselves the "Upper Attic"! You might ask why but we are the Upper Attic because we spend countless hours in what is basically an attic transformed into a room like setting. So thats where we get the name Upper Attic from.
Ryan, Hannah and Kyle at Work
Team Blue strategizing.
So then after work I made my way back to the apartment and Amanda, James, Austin, and I played a game of Blokus. It was a lot of fun. Then Austin and I went to go to his intramural basketball game. I couldn't stay for the whole game but he told me that they got beat. I said it was ok because they did a good job by keeping the game pretty close all the way through. Right now, Austin is sick. I think he has the cold. I hope he starts feeling better because this weekend he has a floor party. And from what I heard it should be a lot of fun!

Amanda balancing the toilet paper before it falls.
So when I get back from the game Amanda is doing her normal RA duty of making sure people in the building get the recommended amount of toilet paper. I am still wondering how will anyone know how much one needs to last them for a week or so. Amanda is planning ahead so she doesn't need to make as many rounds.

So then there is me who is studying in a weird position but Amanda insisted that she take a picture. So here I am.

So that was my day today. Another day in the life of Emily the 21 year old adult.

Ecclesiastes 3:1
"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven."

Day 1: Of Adult Life

First, I woke up to Amanda dropping her cell phone behind the bunk beds and we shared similar stories about how we had dreams about our family. We think that we had a dream about our family because we watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding on yesterday.  Amanda says "If my phone didn't dropped onto the floor she probably wouldn't have gotten up out of bed".

This morning Amanda and I set off to the gym at about 7:30 AM to get our exercise!!  She wanted to get back into a routine of working out 30 mins. a day and I wanted to get into a good routine starting my "Adult" life the healthy way. So we got to the gym and we managed to do a few exercises like the elliptical and ran on the treadmill. Also, since we had onions in fridge my water bottle reeked of that horrible like B.O. smell. Well, I got past that and we then set off for classes. After class was "Roomie Breakfast"!!!! The breakfast we had included salad and spanakopitas. Ashley was they only normal one who ate an omelette and yogurt. However, Staci couldn't make it because she is out of town meeting with someone for a possible internship possibility. We missed her greatly but we know she will do a great job where ever God wants her to be.

Today, Ashley was looking up flights for her trip to see Kathleen. I hope everything works out great for her. Amanda just decide to have bible study on Fridays for either lunch or dinner which is another exciting thing because I feel like more people will show up. Staci is not here but when she gets back Amanda and I want her to start working out with us.
Well, thats enough for tonight. So far being 21 has treated me pretty well!!

Hebrews 10:24-25
"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love, and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching"
